I would not for one second have thought twice about the decision if not for one short phrase spoken by a single character.
They have created a world that can touch people in a way we never imagined possible. a virtual experience that can make you question what you really value.
they achieved something trancending the medium, and for the first time, pulled the player into events that they truly and personally care about.
most people thought this would never be possible with video games. it has been said that they will never achieve the level of art that people see in movies or literature.
I have been deeply moved by both, but its difficult for movies or books to be be personal to the viewer.
videogames are by their very nature.
this isnt even why i started this post, but i think this is bigger than that. this is a step towards making videogames what they truly should be.
i was so emotionally invested that a word from a single character nearly made me compromise everything i had believed. and that made for a truly difficult and meaningful decision.
and while i know that i believe in what i did, i might still doubt what could have happened.
but this is the ending i was fighting for.
and i am glad it’s the one i got.
and if you played the game, I doubt the words that swayed me are what you think.
